Internationalization Update

ScholarOne is in the process of internationalizing Manuscript Central for launch in non English-speaking markets; with an initial focus on China. This includes translation of the user interface, system documentation, marketing collateral and training and support resources as well as preparing the code base to accept non-English characters. In addition, the internationalized version of Manuscript Central will be integrated with other Thomson Scientific localized products such as EndNote and the Web of Science. Come learn how China is a rapidly growing producer of scientific, technical and medical research and how this country presents a unique opportunity to publishers and the global research community.

A Beginner's Guide to Production Tracking Online

What happens to a manuscript after it is accepted? Where does it go, who does it go to, and when does it happen? This presentation will cover the flexible potential in Manuscript Central to track accepted articles through a journal’s production process. This can be a simple export to another system, or a more complicated workflow with assignment to copyeditors and proofreaders, along with proofing and graphics checking tools. The presentation will also cover issue assignment and scheduling, and how both article-by-article and issue-based workflows can be combined in a production workflow. And finally, how multiple journals can utilize these production tracking tools in a dedicated Production Central site.
